To enhance coordinated extreme weather triggered disasters in the region, it would be better if the NMHSs in South Asia work closely together. SAHF builds and facilitates the regional collaboration between the SAHF member countries-Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
The Forecasters’ Forum under the SAHF umbrella will aim to leverage the regional knowledge sharing to improve operational forecasting and service delivery. The Forecasters’ Forum brings together the weather forecasters from NHMSs of SAHF countries on a weekly basis to sustain dialogue and share the latest forecasts on extreme weather events in the region, emerging technology and ideas. The Forecasters’ Forum has the following objectives:

• Communicate and discuss the weather and climate forecasts in the coming days and weeks including uncertainties and limitations.
• Discuss the evaluation and performance of models and forecast skills.
• Share new ideas and technology to improve weather and climate forecasting.
• Communicate impending extreme weather events in the region and improve mechanisms to share forecast information between NMHSs.
• Discuss mechanisms to improve the dissemination of forecast information to the sectors and general users.
