Welcome to “Introduction to Climpact: Working with Climate Indices”. This course should take you approximately three hours to complete. Climpact is software package which you can use to calculate climate indices from daily temperature and rainfall data. Climate indices are useful for planning in sectors such as disaster risk reduction (DRR), Health, Agriculture and Water.
After completing this course, you should have knowledge and skills needed to choose and calculate climate indices from daily temperature and rainfall data to analyze trends in climate indices and in many cases explore correlations between sectoral and climate data.
Climpact was developed mainly by members of the WMO’s Technical Commissions Experts Teams(specifically the Expert Team on Climate Risk and Sector-specific Climate Indices,(ET-CRSCI), succeeded by the Expert Team on Sector-Specific Climate Indices (ET-SCI) and currently by the Expert Team on Climate Information for Decision Making (ET-CID))
